Weeks ago, I was asked to try a no-rinse body wash by Flying Squirrel Co., and while my intention was to try it while traveling through Joshua Tree, California, I, unfortunately, ended up with the flu on the 2nd day of my trip and spent my last few days in misery! Since being back, I’ve been horribly busy, making it difficult to write about it as I had hoped. That being said, I have finally gotten around to giving this product a shot and I want to let you know all about it – and my honest experience with it.
ABOUT THE COMPANY
According to the website, Flying Squirrel Co. is a family owned business with the goal of producing products infused with natural ingredients. Their company started with the no rinse body wash, created due to a need for a quick and healthy solution to get clean after bike riding. They now have multiple skin care products up for sale.
Flying Squirrel Co’s No Rinse Bodywash boasts its status as being Environmental Working Group (EWG) verified – meaning it meets the EWG’s strict health criteria. Click here to view the details on its EWG page.
Ingredients, as listed on the bottle, are as follows: Ethanol (Grain Alcohol), Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel), Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera), Vegetable Glycerin, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Vegetable Stearic Acid, Cetearyl Alcohol, Polysorbate-60, Citrus Reticulata (Tangerine) Oil, Mentha Spicata (Spearmint) Leaf Oil
The directions state that the user is supposed to spray the product onto their skin and wipe off using a dry or damp cloth. But be sure to avoid the eyes!
I sprayed some of the body wash onto both of my arms and tried wiping it using a dry washcloth. The spray comes out as a very fine mist, and the first thing I noticed is its pleasant scent. It’s a very fresh and clean smell that I can only describe as a light combination of citrus and mint – and it wasn’t overpowering at all. I also appreciated the non-greasy consistency. It didn’t take long at all for the spray to absorb into my skin, so I didn’t have to worry about it sticking to my clothes. The yummy smell faded fairly quickly, but I wasn’t stinky either.
For the record, I tried this after going on a short walk/jog – and I’m almost 29 weeks pregnant so I’m currently not the fittest person in the world! While I wasn’t running a marathon and sweating buckets, I still broke a bit of a sweat, which is easy to do when you’re carrying a tiny human. This worked well for me in my particular situation – but I can’t say how it will work for you if you’ve been standing out in the sun all day long. That being said, a shower probably is your best bet at that point anyway!
If you don’t have access to a shower, this spray is a great alternative to hold you over until you do! It’s perfect for campers, hikers, gym rats, or anyone with a busy lifestyle that needs a quick refresher.
Thanks to the folks at Flying Squirrel Co. for allowing me to try their product!
