5 PERKS OF BEING A PART-TIME TRAVELER

April 5, 2016 in Everything Else / Uncategorized

Many travel bloggers out there were somehow able to escape their lives and start traveling for a living.  Thats great for people who can do that, but how many people actually have the means to live a life of full-time travel?  Not many.  And while it would be a fairytale to be able to do so, there are certain perks to being a part-time traveler.

1.  YOU CAN MAINTAIN A STEADY PAYCHECK

While it certainly isn’t impossible, few travel bloggers successfully earn enough of an income to survive.  As a part-timer, it’s nice to have a steady paycheck that you can depend on while being able to put some of the funds toward your travels.

2.  YOU CAN KEEP A HOME BASE

Part-time travelers are able to have a place to call home.  I, personally, enjoy having my own place to go back to.  Mostly because I enjoy printing the photos from my trip(s) and hanging them on the walls.  🙂  In the end, it’s always nice to have somewhere to call your own.

3.  YOU’LL ALWAYS HAVE SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO

As nice as it would be to travel continuously, I think I have a greater appreciation for it since I don’t.  I treasure my paid time off of work, and knowing that I have a trip coming up gives me something to get excited about!

4.  YOU CAN SEE FAMILY AND FRIENDS REGULARLY

There is no spending long amounts of time away from the people you love most.  I know from experience after moving so many times that relationships can be difficult to maintain when you aren’t around those people often.  Settling down is a great opportunity to immerse yourself in a culture and build long-lasting relationships.

5.  YOU WON’T EXHAUST YOURSELF

Travel is exhausting!  And some people want to cram multiple stops into a short amount of time.  After your time away, you’ll have plenty of time to settle down and recuperate in time for the next trip.  Plan adventures that work with your pace.

It’s OK to be a part-time traveler, and it doesn’t make you any less adventurous than those seeing the world full-time.  It just means you have different circumstances.  Don’t let anyone make you feel differently!  Have more reasons to add to this list?  Post them below!
