This past weekend I returned to Shenandoah National Park’s Skyline Drive hoping for some beautiful views as the colors turn. While I wish I were a week or so earlier, I think the foliage was still quite beautiful. The park was packed so parking at certain lookout points proved tedious, but we still managed to see some beautiful scenery. While it was cloudy that day, the weather was still much better than the last time I went. Since the weather in the mountains can change so fast, I highly recommend you check out these webcams of the park before departing on your journey.
Skyline Drive is a great place to see some really stunning views of Virginia. Be aware that people are visiting from all over the place and there are car accidents all the time. So drive carefully and pay attention! I was fortunate enough to not have to drive during this trip. One thing I did discover on the way there, however, is that curvy mountain roads still make me nauseous when I’m not the one in the driver’s seat!
