Anyone who has been to Colorado knows that the beauty there is endless! No matter where you go, you’re bound to find some amazing scenery. I took my first trip to Colorado in April 2014, and I had such an amazing time. Here are 4 scenic spots that I hit while staying in Denver for a week:
Garden of the Gods has really beautiful landscape to offer. There is an interesting contrast between the Rocky Mountains and the red rock formations that make you feel like you’re in both Arizona and Colorado at once.
Rocky Mountain National Park is in North-Central Colorado. It’s a little bit of a drive (about 1.5 hrs), but it’s worth it! There are plenty of hiking trails, wildlife, and picture perfect views. You can’t go wrong here.
WARNING: Pikes Peak is not for the faint of heart! If you can handle the heights and lack of guard rails, you’ll love it here. Either drive, hike (I commend those who do), or take the Cog Railway up to the to the peak. There is a fee to check out these views from 14,115ft, so be prepared with your wallet. Also, check the weather ahead of time! If there is bad weather expected, they will close the peak to visitors. Otherwise, it’s a pretty intense experience.
Any big music lover has heard of Red Rocks, but many might not realize that it isn’t just an amphitheater. It is also a place where the locals like to exercise as well as a hiking destination. The views are beautiful! The best part is, you don’t have to travel far to get to this gem from Denver. It takes about 20 minutes to drive there, so you have no excuse not to see it!
